French Consulate Honors WWII Veterans During Victory Florida Year

Throughout 2015, the Consulate of France in Miami will award the insignias of “Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur” (Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honor”*) to U.S. Veterans who fought alongside France during World War II. Numerous ceremonies are planned around the state. Press releases regarding the award ceremonies will be posted here.

During the most recent ceremony took place in Ormond Beach and Merritt Island, 26 WWII veterans were presented the French Legion of Honor by the Consulate General of France in Miami.  

70 years ago in 1945, WWII ended in Europe following the continued advancement of United States troops into Germany. In recognition of this anniversary, the Florida Department of State is leading the campaign called Victory Florida.
