Constructed in 1843, this house was the residence of Abraham K. Allison, the Florida Senate President who became acting governor on April 1, 1865, after Governor John Milton committed suicide. Allison resigned the office on May 19, 1865, was arrested by Federal authorities, and in June was sent to Fort Pulaski, Georgia where he was imprisoned for several months along with other Confederate officials. Allison was also a delegate to the 1861 Florida Secession Convention and participated in the Battle of Natural Bridge with the state militia. The house is now operated as a bed and breakfast inn.
