The Greatest Generation: Punta Gorda Army Air Field 1942-1945

An exhibit honoring our greatest generation and their contributions to World War II in Charlotte County. Displays of the Punta Gorda Army Air Field, a training field for fighter pilots who eventually saw service in Europe and the South Pacific, opened its first classes in 1944. The exhibit shows a personal side to the men at the field and also pays tribute to the little town that supported them.
