Saving the Sunshine State: Women Leaders in the 20th Century

May Mann Jennings, Zora Neale Hurston, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Marjorie Harris Carr, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Mary McLeod Bethune all worked to improve Florida and the lives of its citizens in areas such as conservation, civil rights, writing, education and suffrage. The exhibit will tell the stories of these women leaders through a unique selection of artifacts, documents and images. Each of the featured women will also be highlighted in a series of programs at the Matheson and in two history bus tours.
