Museum Day Live!

Museum Day Live

The Matheson History Museum is participating in Smithsonian magazine's eleventh annual Museum Day Live! Come visit our current exhibit, "Saving the Sunshine State: Women Leaders in the Twentieth Century." The exhibit features May Mann Jennings, Zora Neale Hurston, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Marjorie Harris Carr, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Mary McLeod Bethune. These women worked to improve Florida and the lives of its citizens in areas such as conservation, civil rights, writing, education and suffrage. The exhibit will tell the stories of these women leaders through a unique selection of artifacts, documents and images on loan from the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park, Bethune Foundation of Bethune-Cookman University, The Marjorie and Archie Carr Family, and the Florida Museum of Natural History.
