MARITIME HERITAGE FAMILY FUN DAY

Please come join us on Sunday, June 22nd for the Second Annual MARITIME HERITAGE FAMILY FUN DAY at the beautiful historic waterfront Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, 11 Magnolia Ave St Augustine. Park admission is FREE to St. Johns County Residents with I.D. from 11 am until 3 pm.The games and activities begin at 11am and continue until 3pm. Your family will enjoy model boat building and racing, shipwreck artifacts, youth sailboat rigging, maritime and nature demonstrations, fun exhibits, hands-on activities, knot tying, tug'o’war and other fun games, storytelling, Event prizes, Timucuan Interpretive History, Arquebus Demonstrations, Cannon firing, Air-Conditioned Planetarium, Informative Exhibits, and much, much more! “Bubba”burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for purchase.You can also meet our volunteer boat builders as they busily bring a sixteenth century replica boat (called a chalupa) and boatyard to life. This boat was used by the sailors to navigate the St Augustine Inlet from offshore in the 1500s. Move back in time and witness boatbuilding of the sixteenth century. Find out what it was like 450 years ago to sail these incredible boats that landed on the shores of St. Augustine.
